DIGIMILL (TM) - Automatic Compensator Milling Machine
The efficient, fully automatic system for production of tissue compensation filters
Radiotherapy planing and treatment requires a very high degree of accuracy throughout all stages. DIGIMILL is an automated system for the calculation and fabrication of compensation filters of unmatched accuracy. These filters can be produced from a variety of planning system interfaces as well as CT, MRI, and manually derived contour information. A fully automatic system The DIGIMILL system consists of an automatic compensator milling machine, and a powerful control software package which integrates all the system's components with your planning computer and CT-based contour information. Simple to operate The DIGIMILL is remarkably simple to operate. It only requires a few instructions to product efficient and accurate compensator filters. The data from which the software calculates the filters are either obtained from the CT information from your planning computer, or from Par Scientific's digital contouring systems. Interfaces to most modern planning systems are available. For patients without CT information, the PAR digital contour devices are the perfect tools for obtaining the patient outline on the simulator, then using these data to calculate a missing tissue compensator. The PAR Scientific digital contour systems can either be installed as an integral part of the DIGIMILL or be added at a later stage. The compensation filter is cut into a Styrofoam block, filled and then attached to the shadow tray plate for use at the accelerator. Position verification holes can be programmed in the computer and cut by the machine to ensure perfect alignment. These holes can be programmed for each individual accelerator. Because cutting is performed by a milling mechanism, compensators can also be produced directly from the protective material. The compensators are cut in a fully enclosed environment and an optional vacuum system extracts all shavings resulting from the cutting operation.
